Holiday Trends and African American Skin

I've just spent the past two hours in a big box store trying to make a decision on a simple tube of lipstick.

I never venture far from what I always wear and the only time you'll ever see me wearing a full blown made up face is when I have to have a photo shoot. Even then I'm begging the makeup artist to keep my look as natural as possible.

Because it's the Holiday season and everyone is thinking parties, I found myself in a space of study. I found a comfortable little nook and looked at all of the offerings that were available.

Holiday Trends in African American Makeup

From nail polish to eye shadow, lipsticks and lip gloss, the choices were amazing. Imagine granny smith apple green and charcoal gray but with glitter and this was for your eyes.

Speaking of eyes, the smokey eye look is always a fashion statement but it really seems to be part of the Holiday makeup look.

Nail polish can give you a pop of color whether it's the Holiday Season or the middle of summer. Your hands are always making a statement and a well-manicured nail is a must.

Not everyone lives in cold climates so your hands and your toes become a unit in warm climates. Then it becomes a necessity for your feet to be just as well manicured as your hands, maybe even more so.

Pucker up because a night out on the town during the holidays isn't complete without a 'Kiss', especially New Year's Eve.

Luscious lips in red, (ruby-cherry-candy apple), purple passion or radiant bronze are bound to leave an impression on the cheek of an admirer.

Setting a Foundation For Makeup

The foundation of any great looking skin is the regimen that you use on a daily basis. Without taking care of your beautiful dark skin, your makeup doesn’t stand a chance. Eventually you'll begin to see pimples, large pores and dullness to your skin even when wearing makeup.

Unless you're using makeup as a camouflage for a particular skin condition, its purpose is to enhance your beauty. The more diligent you are with your skin care regimen the less of a foundation you will have to wear.

When you take care of your skin it will be well moisturized and have a radiant luster to it. Well-moisturized skin looks healthier and definitely needs very little makeup foundation.

We've got new additions to our store for you. Essential oils have been known to help calm and soothe skin and scalp irritations. Although you'll find a sample kit on the hair category page, you can use them for any of your skin and hair care needs.

The hair care sample kit has been given an upgrade. We've increased the size of the container on the shampoo and conditioners and added a hair butter sample to the mix.

Although there's beauty in your blackness, your skin is sensitive and needs protection from the sun just like everyone else.
