Our Story
The NYRAJU story is a testament to the strength and determination of one African-American family to succeed. NYRAJU (Ny-ra-JU') combines the names of all the Samuel family, daughter Nyesha, husband and father Robert and son Rahim, and of course, the driving force behind NYRAJU, Juliette, mother, wife, and entrepreneur.
Juliette Samuel attended Florida A&M University, an historically black university, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Clothing and Retailing. Armed with her brand new degree and an entrepreneurial spirit that knew no bounds, she headed for New York City and took the Big Apple by storm.
She started out as an image consultant and soon opened her own clothing boutique, taught at the prestigious Fashion institute of Technology, and finally became the CEO and Founder of NYRAJU Skin Care.
Along the way she met and married Robert Samuel, graduate of Bethune Cookman University and Florida A&M. Their son, Rahim majored in Marketing at Clark Atlanta University and daughter Nyesha earned her degree in Spanish and International Marketing from Georgia State University. The Samuel family has always believed in supporting historically Black Colleges and Universities.
The inspiration for NYRAJU Skin Care grew out of tragedy. Juliette lost both her parents within a seventeen-month period and this devastating loss drove her to seek solace in the restorative waters of an emollient rich tub.
As her wounded psyche slowly healed her body luxuriated in exotic butters and oils scented with rejuvenating natural fragrances. Juliette soon was able to concentrate on the wonderful healing qualities of these special ingredients and then decided that she needed to make them available to everyone.
Thus was the concept for NYRAJU born out of grief and sustained and nourished by the Samuel family's dedication to a healthy lifestyle. Juliette, Robert, Nyesha, and Rahim embrace a healthy vegetarian diet while participating in a variety of exercise disciplines such as yoga, pilates, tai chi, and kung fu that nourish the body and soul.
NYRAJU Skin Care is an extension of their healthy lifestyle, making only the best in all natural skin care products and fragrances available to women of color everywhere. Between the soothing and moisturizing pleasure of pure body butters, oil, teas, and aromatic blends one is able to care for the entire body and soul.
