5 Natural Beauty Tips for Black Women

Weíre always looking for shortcuts when it comes to natural black skin and hair care, however, youíll want them to be effective without causing damage to your skin and/or hair. Here are a few tips to take into consideration when setting up your beauty regimen.

Tip # 1 - Exfoliate !

Your skin sees a lot of dry skin build up from dead skin cells. This build up can actually be whatís causing that dull, ashy gray look youíre experiencing. A mild exfoliant, say jojoba wax beads in a cream base, will help in removing this build up without causing damage to your skin. The key is to not go in on your skin as if youíre scrubbing pots or floors. A gentle touch with a mild exfoliant, will help remove dead skin cell build up and reveal the natural beauty of your skin.

Tip #2 - Coconut Oil for Beauty and Wellness

Coconut oil is more than a fad. When it comes to beauty and wellness, itís been shown to have countless benefits and used for centuries by many cultures. For instance, oil pulling, itís primarily used in Ayurvedic medicine and is a way to detoxify your body by swishing a tablespoon of oil, typically coconut oil, in your mouth for about 20 minutes. Done daily, many have reported great results.

Used in hair products as a carrier oil along with essential oils and face serums to ease sunburned skin, coconut oil is a stable in a many households.

Tip #3 - Essential Oils for Natural Black Skin and Hair Care

Whether itís Jasmine being used as a skin nourisher or Rosemary for natural hair growth, essential oils are making their way to the main stage in natural beauty care. Weíve seen them displayed and portrayed on temple walls in Egypt and India. Essential oils have long been part of the beauty regimen for women of color.

When blended with a carrier oil, i.e. jojoba, coconut, olive, grasped or rose hip, essential oils can offer extremely beneficial results to the health of your skin and hair.

Tip #4 - Moisturize, Moisturize, Moisturize

Can you ever skip your moisturizer? That depends on what youíre using to moisturize. For some skin types facial oils are used to moisturize your skin and for others, itís a facial cream. The key is to know which to use and when. You will not need both. Say that again, You Will Not Need Both at the same time.

A lot of creams have oils in them and when you apply a facial oil and then come back with a moisturizing cream, you could be opening your skin up to a feeding grown for bacteria not to mention blackheads.

Tip #5 - Using Oils for Beautiful Black Skin

Is Oil The New Miracle Worker? We love our oils especially on our body! However, one of the misconceptions about oils is that theyíre only for dry skin. The key is in knowing what blends work. Oils can be used on oily and acne prone skin without causing problems. Oils can actually nourish and replenish your skin when used properly. When applied topically, oils can actually help balance your skinís natural oil production and boost hydration.

Oils not only hydrate, moisturize and solve problems for your skin, they are actually used to cleanse your skin. Oils can actually help you achieve the glowing, radiant and youthful complexion that youíve been striving for.

There will always be tips when it comes to black skin and hair care. Use these as part of an ongoing list that will help enhance your natural beauty.

Thatís it for this week. As always Ö
