How To Choose The Right Skin Care Products For African American Skin

African American skin care products help bring out beauty that is already in abundance to begin with. The skin color is just easy on the eyes, plus it has an almost irresistible exotic appeal.

The trouble however, with dark skin, is that it is hard to maintain its good condition.

Although it is genetically predisposed to stand the heat of the sun better than light or medium-toned skin, it is also vulnerable to many forms of damage such as discoloration, stretching, and the like.

This is why it is of utmost importance to be able to choose the right skin care products for you if you have this skin complexion.

The first step is to make a simple yet effective routine for taking care of your skin.

Washing it regularly goes a long way. If you have dry skin, the best would be to wash it once a day so as not to dry it up even more. If you have excessively oily skin, washing three times a day might be better for you. But the average person is better off washing twice a day, at the start and at the end of the day, never touching oily parts throughout the day.

Remember that the key isn't in the price of the products, the brand, or where you buy them, it is about finding the right product for your skin type. This is the deciding factor in which your skin is able to respond to the product that you are using.

The only way to find out for certain if African American skin care products are right for you is by applying it in small amounts at first and watch for skin reactions. Look out for discolorations, breaks, rashes, and the like.

The last step for your skin care would be protection. Darker skinned individuals have more pigmentation called melanin. It provides protection from the suns harmful rays, from the Ultraviolet A and B rays of the sun. A darker skinned individual has a natural SPF of 13 -15, meaning that he can stay under the sun 13 to 15 times longer before getting burned.

However, this isn't enough. With the heat of the sun now, at least an SPF of 30 is needed for everyday sun exposure.

Remember that African American skin care products aren't about price or brand. They are about having the right formulation for you and your skin type and the way and frequency you use them.
