Black Skin Care and Makeup

Spring is always the time of year when you start having that feeling of newness, that feeling of hope, life and new possibilities. After you’ve gone through long winters people tend to have an outlook for new vigor in their world, so they look for ways to express this feeling through makeup.

Adding Color To Your Beautiful Black Skin

Makeup is a relatively easy and inexpensive way to liven up your wardrobe and put a whole new face in your world.

Although many of the new hot colors for spring may seem out of reach for the “everyday woman”, they (colors) are definitely a way to help you feel brighter and have a new outlook when it comes to your beautiful black skin and the season.

One thing you have to keep in mind and take into consideration is that when you are wearing makeup, one of the most important things is to remember that what you see on the runway and in fashion magazines does not translate well into your job environment.

Black Skin Care and The Runway

On the runway and in magazines, makeup is applied a lot heavier. It has a more theatrical appearance especially for runway appearances and you can’t wear what the runway model wears to work.

What she's wearing on the runway, you can't take that look into the job environment. So you want to look at realistic options while creating a certain feel for your work environment.

When you look at color pallets for a given season there are many different choices and selections. They can all have their place in the color pallet when it comes to your eye shadows, lipstick, blush and other ways to bring color to your face.

One of the things to consider as an African American is when you start to look at colors to add and enhance your complexion, runway choices won't always make the best appearance from your skin to the public.

Your Complexion-Makeup Coverage And Color

When you look at your complexion, thats going to dictate a lot of what your color pallet will be. When you start with just the foundation of the makeup itself, a lot of you have voiced that you want sheer coverage, something that's not too heavy or too matte because as you move into a spring pallet your going to eventually transition into a summer pallet.

Because the temperatures can be hot and overwhelming it means you're going to perspire a bit more. So anything you put on your skin in terms of makeup as a foundation, it's going to run.

You don't need a lot. Just the slightest little bit will give you that added glow that you're looking for when it's time for your skin to really show how it's enhanced by a nice blush or eye shadow.

Spring also represents what is also referred to as the return of having a fresh or no makeup complexion. With that, even though some of you may be looking for coverage, you're looking for sheer looking textures.

Some of you will want to go for that matte finish on your skin, but you don't like the feel of the heavy foundation and you can acquire this matte finish by using a primer.

A loose mineral powder often applied with a non-latex sponge can follow that. So that's what you can do in order to get that matte, non-heavy, sheer, light looking complexion.

As far as brushes and bronzers are concerned, once you've gotten your complexion to that "established" life as far as your eye is concerned you can add color.

That will enhance the bone structure and sometimes offer a livelier look as far as spring pallets are concerned.

Color and Natural Hues for African American Skin

As an African American you're not one to have to concern yourself with spray tanning at all or using a bronzer often. But you can use a bronzer just to enhance your complexion, it doesn't have to be a heavy application.

So with spring right upon us, bright colors as well as subdued ones for a more natural look are going to be a way to go. The key will be in balancing out their use.

Metallic's seem to be huge right now in color but you don't want to overdue metallic and you'll want to save your gold or silver or overly shiny products for evening and night time usage.

Finally …

So no matter what type of color pallet you choose, liners, lashes and browse play an important role in your choice of color for the season.

With that, the key is in finding balance in your choice of colors and how you apply your foundation. This will give you a more natural sheer or matte finish.

Finding balance and how you present your color choices to those around you in your work, party and general day-to-day environment, should be fun!
