How to Wear Makeup for Maturing Dark Skin Beauties

Makeup for maturing dark skin beauties. You're not done yet! You've still got sass in you. A little foundation, eyeliner and blush, and you've got a daytime look that'll perk you up as you move about your day.

Okay, COVID-19 has tempered your makeup wearing days to your grocery store outing. COVID won't be here for ever and there are things you can do to make your skin ready to be admired after the mask wearing days are over.

Before You Apply Makeup on Maturing Dark Skin

It's extremely important for you to have a good skin care regimen in place, before applying makeup to your maturing dark skin. When applying makeup, you want to think of your skin as being like a blank canvas.

The smoother and better cared for, the better it will look when you wear makeup. Keeping your skin cleansed, toned and moisturized will work to help you achieve a smooth blank canvas.

Why Do You Really Wear Makeup?

When done the right way, makeup can really enhance your appearance. You can use blush to highlight you cheeks and eyeliners to define your almond shaped beauties. Some of your will even venture into wearing false lashes, the right way.

Yes, I had to go there. Eyelashes are meant to enhance thinning lashes, especially for everyday use. However, those "fans" you see people walking around in are not meant for everyday use.

Large, exaggerated lashes are for theater performers, entertainers and to be worn as part of a costume.

Okay back to makeup tips for maturing skin

Maturing skin can have a tendency to produce less oil. You may notice that in your younger years, you had more oil to deal with. As you matured, you began to see less of it.

This can work to your advantage, because now, you've go the perfect glow.

On the other hand, if you have skin that's becoming more dry, a nighttime moisturizer or serum can help with hydrating your skin.

Another thing to consider, is changing your pillowcase every other night.

Your night time regimen, weather young or old, will have you applying creams, serums and moisturizer to help care for your skin. These products get on your pillow case and become a breading ground for dirt and bacteria.

Get yourself a pack of white pillowcases from Walmart, TJ Max or Amazon and use them specifically for sleeping. Satin or silk would be great. However, soft cotton or cotton blend will work as well.

Choosing the Right Tools for Makeup Application

Believe it or not, the brush or sponge you choose to apply your products, is just as important as the products themselves.

Take brushes for instance did you know that they have vegan makeup brushes? The softness of a brush will glide across your skin without pulling and tugging. Pulling and tugging your skin can cause sagging and wrinkles.

Remember, your skin is loosing collagen and elastin, therefore, you'll want to do as little pulling and tugging as possible. Using the wrong brush will alter or distort the shape of your skin.

Eyebrows frame your face. Here's where you'll want to add a little tint to your brow to define their presence and then have them shaped. Threading is a great way to shape your brows. There's less pulling and tugging than when you get them waxed.

Going Light on the Makeup Application

This is referring to your foundation. Applying too much foundation can make your skin look caked. Remember you're not on stage performing, therefore you don't need a lot to see the results you seek.

Most of you use concealer's to minimize dark circles, bags and to cover your discoloration or dark spots. Use them very sparingly, a little goes a long way.

Light with the blush is good. A thin layer of gloss on the lips is better. If you choose to wear lipstick, don't wear both the lipstick and the lip gloss at the same time.

A side note: Until mask have been removed from the mandatory list, save your lip stick wearing for after COVID. You'll just be adding to the bacteria and germs gathering under the mask.

To recap

  1. Keep your makeup to minimal use.
  2. Keep your skin cleaned and moisturized to maintain its health.
  3. Go light on the blush,
  4. Avoid eye shadow altogether,
  5. Shape your brows and
  6. Think twice before you wear fans, also known as eyelashes, that are too big to balance your face.

That's it for this week. As always
