What Happens When You Combine CBD Oil and Black Skin Care?

What is CBD and how does it help your beautiful black skin? From magazine stands, to books, to special reports, CBD is in your face. Why now? Could it be that consumers like yourself are looking for a more natural alternative when it comes to treating beauty challenges and your well-being?

Back to the original question Ö what is CBD? For those of you that are thinking itís marijuana, itís not. Just like any other flower that produces essential oils, CBD is the oil form thatís traditionally extracted from the hemp flower. CBD is derived from the hemp flower, it contains less than 0.3 percent THC, so you will not get high.

CBD - Cannabidiol - is the second most commonly produced compound in cannabis varieties bred for their medicinal use and the most common in varieties bred for agriculture (commonly known as hemp). Unlike THC, CBD is non-intoxicating (wonít get you high). Research, scientist and people in general are interested in CBD for its medicinal interest for its anti-epileptic, anti-anxiety and anti-inflammatory effects.

CBD Comes in Many Forms

No longer just in brownies, CBD can be consumed in many forms and because youíre not interested in the intoxicating effects of THC, smoking would not be your move. We know that your beauty begins from the inside out, so edibles, supplements and ingestible's might be of interest to you.

However, if your interest is primarily for something that you can apply to your skin, topicals would suit you better. Therefore, youíd look for products that are lotion, cream, salve based or bath balms.

The CBD amount in these types of products can begin to treat conditions in five to 15 minutes in many cases. Reason being, youíre applying topicals directly on the area of your skin that needs help. CBD has been known to support your skinís natural healing process, thereby, shortening the lifespan of breakouts and eczema/psoriasis flare-ups.

What to Look for In a Skin Care Product.

Avoid products that claim ďfull-spectrumĒ, because these products are known to contain all the original compounds found in the cannabis flower: cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. This means your product could contain THC. You could possibly feel high.

Price is often a marker of how pure a product is. If you find a CBD oil claiming 100 mg potency for under $40, itís highly possible that the CBD is not pure. Look for products that clearly claim CBD purity above 95%. The likelihood of these products containing CBD that has been refined multiple times to remove the other cannabinoids present in the hemp plant is higher. The purer the CBD, the better it will be for your skin.

Beauty and The Black Girl With CBD

In the world of beauty, your skin can often have challenges with inflammation and this causes you anxiety.

How can CBD products help your beautiful black skin? Are you challenged with puffy eyes, acne, redness and rashes, not knowing how to handle them? Quite often these particular challenges are because of inflammation.

Inflammation is your immune systems way of responding to damaged skin cells or harmful irritants found in a lot of products. Your body has two receptors (CB1 and CB2), also known as endrocannabinoids. They are compounds your body produces to activate them and the enzymes that break the compounds down.

CB1 receptors are mostly clustered in your brain and central nervous system. CB2 receptors, are distributed throughout your lymphatic system, immune system and your skin.

Itís being said the CBD can reduce inflammation by suppressing the proteins that typically communicate with immune cells that signal a response.

What Products Are On The Market Now With CBD?

Face - Eye Creams, facial serums, mask, oils and moisturizers are gracing the shelves of health food stores and big brand skin care boutiques. Although theyíre being sold as reducing puffiness, acne and redness of your skin, youíll be the best judge of that based on your results.

Body - These products are typically in base of Shea butter, essential oils or carrier oils such as coconut oil, jojoba oil or grapeseed oil. Whether itís dryness, redness or skin irritations, products are coming to market in the body category with CBD in them to help with these challenges.

Bath - We all know that there is nothing more relaxing than your body immersed in a tub of warm water. CBD's main claim to fame is as an anti-anxiety compound, so why not add CBD infused products to your bath. Bath salts and bath bombs make great additions to your spa like environment for extra relaxation.

Donít be fooled Ö

A lot of products are coming to market with hemp seed oil and being labeled as having CBD oil. Itís important for you to know that CBD oil is not the same as hemp seed oil. Someone always has to screw it up, right?!

So ... How would you shop for CBD?

Look for the actual letters CBD on the label, or the words cannabidiol, hemp extract or hemp extract oil.

Youíll want to look for hemp grown in the U.S. or Europe and certified as organic, organic compliant, Eco-farmed or food grade hemp. This verifies that the hemp isnít grown with or near dangerous contaminants. Hemp absorbs anything in the soils around it, so itís important to know the source of the product youíre purchasing.

Please note: The USDA only recently started allowing hemp farmers to certify their crops, so finding certified-organic hemp might still present somewhat of a challenge.

Itís important to have third party testing information. This enables you to know the amount of active CBD and other cannabinoids in the product as well as their purity. Youíll learn whether or not theyíre free from solvents, heavy metals, pesticides or bacteria.

What does the Future of CBD Hold in the World of Wellness and Skin Care?

Research shows that CBD is a very effective substitute for opioids used in pain management. This of course refers to ingestible and marijuana in general. In 2018, a study found opioid prescriptions had dropped significantly in states where marijuana is legal.

As for skin care and your beautiful black skin, we continue to watch and study new product ideas. We'll provide information on what to bring to market and laws allowing the sale of them. As of December 2018, Congress passed the 2018 Farm Bill, removing industrial hemp from the Schedule 1 drug list. This gives farmers the green light to grow hemp more freely.

This means that hemp-derived CBD products are now legal to ďshipĒ in the U.S. This is very important.

Iíll continue to bring you updates from the world of CBD as it applies to caring for your beautiful black skin.

That's it for this week. As Always Ö
